BLM Wyoming Defers Offering 30 Parcels in Upcoming Oil and Gas Sale

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Wyoming announced today it will defer offering 30 parcels in the upcoming oil and gas sale on Dec. 2, 2008.

Thirteen of the parcels are located in the Little Mountain area south of Rock Springs and encompass 16,132.67 acres. These parcels are being deferred until a determination is made regarding the merits of the protests received on these parcels. The parcels being deferred are WY-0812-177 through WY-0812-183, parcels WY-0812-186 through WY-0812-190, and parcel WY-0812-192.

The remaining 17 parcels, encompassing 34,237 acres, are located in Lincoln County and are being deferred to ensure consistency with stipulations in the the Record of Decision for the Kemmerer Resource Management Plan. The deferred parcels are WY-0812-197 through WY-0812-213.

The BLM can use lease deferrals as a step in the leasing process to ensure that all parcels offered comply fully with all applicable laws and regulations.

BLM Wyoming will offer 184 parcels encompassing 197,275.759 acres at its Dec. 2, 2008 competitive lease sale in Cheyenne, Wyo.
