BLM Investigates Arson Fire;
$1,000 Reward Offered

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Worland Field Office and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) are jointly investigating several arson fires that were started on Nov. 2 at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the Post Draw area, seven miles northeast of Ten Sleep, Wyo. The fires were started on private, USFS and BLM lands. BLM firefighters began suppressing the fires Sunday afternoon and all fires are now contained.

"The BLM is offering a $1000 award for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons known to have started these arson fires," said BLM Law Enforcement Ranger Aaron Kania. Information can be called-in to the reward hotline at 1-888-358-2310. Information from sources wishing to remain anonymous is also acceptable.

In total, eight fires burned just under 100 acres. The fires were started in sage, grass, and some juniper and spread quickly due to extremely windy conditions on Sunday. Several other small fires were also started but didn't spread.

For more information, contact BLM Fire Management Officer Chuck Russell at (307)347-5213 or Aaron Kania at (307)347-5170.
