Rock Springs BLM Seeks Comments on
Proposed Luman Rim Project EA

The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Rock Springs Field Office is seeking comments on a proposed natural gas development project.

Yates Petroleum Corporation, Davis Petroleum Corp., and Pinnacle Gas Resources, Inc. have announced plans to develop natural gas resources within the Lewis and Mesaverde Formations east of Rock Springs.  The proposed Luman Rim Project Area is located in Sweetwater County approximately 25 miles north of I-80 on County Road 21 near Red Lake.

Eight natural gas wells have been drilled within the project area. The companies propose to drill an additional 58 wells in the area with construction of associated gas gathering pipelines and access roads over a 5-year period beginning in 2008.

Wells within the area would be drilled at a maximum density of one well per 160 acres.

The scoping notice can be found at www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/info/NEPA/rsfodocs/luman_rim.html. If interested in participating in the process, please submit written comments until close of business June 19, 2008, to Jeromy Caldwell, Rock Springs Field Office, 280 Highway 191 North, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901 or rock_springs_wymail@blm.gov.
