Outlaw Cave Access Road Remains Closed

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Buffalo Field Office will continue the seasonal closure of the Outlaw Cave Road until May 1, 2008. BLM is extending the closure due to greater than expected snow fall in the Middle Fork of the Powder River area in Southern Johnson County.

Outlaw Cave Road is the primary access route to Outlaw Cave Campground, a popular fishing and recreation area 18 miles west of Kaycee, Wyo. The access road to the Outlaw Cave campground is usually open from April 15 to November 30 each year, unless snow or wet weather makes the road impassable to vehicles. The seasonal closure also prevented vehicles from disrupting wintering big game herds in the area.
