Casper BLM Celebrates NTD with Bessemer Bend and Prospect Hill Dedication

On June 2, 2007 the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Casper Field Office will celebrate National Trails Day with a Dedication Ceremony for new interpretive displays at Bessemer Bend and Prospect Hill.

"National Trails Day has become an annual celebration for the Casper Field Office. It is a great way to kick off the summer," noted BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Eve Bennett.

The dedication starts at 10:30 a.m. on June 2 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Bessemer Bend. The Pathfinder Backcountry Horsemen will be on hand along with local dignitaries to celebrate the unveiling of new interpretive signs at Bessemer Bend and Prospect Hill.

"We have spent several years working on new interpretive signs for both sites. It has been cooperative effort between the Casper Field Office and the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. We want to get people out on the ground to experience these historic trails," commented Bennett.

The Pathfinder Backcountry Horsemen will help install signs and plant cottonwood trees at both sites.

The official ceremony will be held at Bessemer Bend located 6 miles south of Casper on WYO-220.

For more information call Eve Bennett at 307-261-7517.
