Wildlife Observation Map

The Newcastle Field Office hosts a variety of wildlife and habitats. Visitors to Newcastle can observe prairie dogs and bighorn sheep all in the same day. A few BLM Sensitive species include fringed and long-eared myotis, swift fox, bald eagle, ferruginous hawk, Greater Sage-Grouse, sage thrasher, side saddle bladderpod, and Northern leopard frog to name a few.

Year round opportunities are available to view fox, coyote, badgers, eagles, hawks and numerous migratory passerines. Winter is an excellent time to view rough-legged hawks and wintering bald eagles.

Big game hunting includes elk, mule deer, white-tailed deer and antelope.
