Price Canyon Recreation Area

Winter is here, the Price Canyon Recreation Area is closed to vehicle access due to snow. It will re-open in the Spring.

The campground is still under construction and we are working on improvements.

The Price Canyon Recreation area offers visitors a chance to enjoy cooler temperatures and the shade of large ponderosa pine trees during the summer. The recreation area is located on a ridge high above Price Canyon. With narrow and steep roads, tight turns, and switchbacks; long vehicle lengths are not recommended. Total vehicle length should generally not exceed 40 feet (truck with a short trailer).

On the drive to the top, there are two small bouldering areas. These are commonly known as “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune.”

The Recreation Area boasts a roughly 3-mile round trip nature trail that features a stand of bristlecone pine trees along the way. The bristlecone pine tree is one of the longest living life forms on Earth. The green pine needles on this tree give the twisted branches a bottle-brush appearance. This trail continues to the old road to the Ford Ridge communication towers as well.

There are 12 large, well-spaced campsites available for $15/night. There are three group areas that are $50/night. Facilities include large picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets.

Please note- there is no water available at the site
