Permit System

The Bloomington Cave Permit System has been put in place to protect the resource values in Bloomington Cave, to improve the preparedness of visitors to the cave, and to provide a high quality and sustainable visitor experience. Before you download a permit application, please review the Cave Safety Checklist and Permit Stipulations.

The permit process is simple and there are no fees. Here’s how it works:

  1. Obtain a permit application.
  2. Submit the completed application to the St. George Field Office a minimum of 3 days before your 1st choice use date.
  3. Pick-up your permit.
Obtaining A Permit Application
There are two ways to obtain a permit application:
  1. Download an application to your computer.
  2. Choose “Save as” and add your name (Example: John Doe Bloomington Cave Permit Application.pdf).
  3. Pick up an application at the St. George Field office.
 Submitting An Application
There are three ways to submit your application. However, the electronic version is preferable. It’s a fillable pdf that can be completed on your computer and submitted electronically.
Submitting your application online
  1. Download an application to your computer.
  2. Fill out the form on your computer.
  3. Attach the completed form to an e-mail.
  4. Send the e-mail to with “Bloomington Cave Permit” in the subject line.

NOTE: We are experiencing problems with our email system. Please contact us by phone if your application has NOT been confirmed within 48 hrs of submittal.

Submitting your application in person
  1. Download an application or pick one up at the St. George Field office.
  2. Fill out the form in ink.
  3. Drop it off at the St. George Field Office or;
  4. Mail it to: St. George Field Office , 345 East Riverside Drive, St. George, UT 84790.

NOTE:  No Same day walk-in permits will be processed.

NOTE: Participants under the age of 18
If there are group members under the age of 18, an original parental signature is required for each participant. This means you cannot submit your application electronically.
NOTE: Boy Scouts of America
Boy Scouts of America (BSA) or BSA-sponsored groups must have a minimum number of 5 persons per group, with two Group Leaders, one of whom must be at least 21years old. The BSA Group Leaders must have adequate caving experience and be knowledgeable of established safety practices and cave conservation measures. Boy Scout leaders must provide BLM a copy of their BSA-approved tour permit.
Picking Up Your Permit
  1. You must pick up your permit in person at the St. George Field Office.
  2. When you pick up your permit, you will be given the combination to the gate. Giving away the combination could result in a lifetime ban and additional penalties.
