Angel Point

Angel Point – Burr Point Trail System

This primitive trail – marked in places with only rock cairns runs from the Dirty Devil River Overlooks at both Angel Point east and west Trailheads and the Burr Point Trailhead. From the overlook parking area the trail system descend into the canyon bottom, providing access into the many scenic side canyons of the Dirty Devil River, such as Robbers Roost, Buck, Pasture, Happy, No Mans, Larry, and Sam’s Mesa Box Canyons.

Angel Point Overlook - The turnoff to the west side of the Dirty Devil River is located 10 miles south of Hanksville on Utah Highway 95. The dirt road continues northeasterly for another 8 miles or so, before a short side access route ends at the edge of the Canyon. The east side trailhead is located approximately 15 miles from its start on the Hans Flat Road in the Robbers Roost Flat area and is also a dirt road. There is a primitive hiking trail which descends to the river bottom and which is the main hiking route into the canyon system and which connect both trailheads across the canyon width. The view from both the trailhead sites include uninterrupted expanses of desert with the La Sals, the Abajos, and the Henry Mountains in the background, with the deeply incised canyons of the Dirty Devil at your feet

Maps and information, as well as some canyoneering skill, are recommended. The total trail length is approximately 20 miles if one follows the twisting river course.
