Price Canyon Recreation Area

The Price Canyon Recreation Area, which is administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), offers visitors a chance to enjoy cooler temperatures and the shade of large ponderosa pine trees during the summer.  The recreation area is located on a ridge high above Price Canyon.  The entrance road, a scenic overlook accessible by automobile, and a hiking trail, provide excellent views of rugged canyon country.

The Price Canyon Recreation Area is 12 miles north of Price, Utah.  Take U.S. Highway 50 & 6 north from Price and turn left at the entrance sign.  From the highway, drive up the mountain three miles to the recreation site.  A paved entrance road winds up a steep hill to a junction from which you may proceed directly to the Price Canyon Overlook, the campground or the picnic area.

Large, well-spaced campsites are available.  Facilities at the campground include picnic tables, fire pits, vault toilets, trash receptacles, and parking spaces.

Three group picnic areas, large picnic tables, toilets, fire pits, and parking are available by reservation.  Call 435-636-3600.

Fire restrictions have been placed throughout the state of Utah.   Up to date information can be found at  Fire restrictions will continue until further notice.

The Price Canyon Recreation Area is a U.S. Fee Area.  A nominal fee of $8 is charge for overnight camping and reservation of the group picnic areas.  Golden Age and Golden Access discounts are honored.  Please telephone the BLM in advance at 435-636-3600 for reservation information, as the group areas are popular for family outings.

  • Lightning frequently strikes the ridgetops near the campground.  Avoid open, exposed areas when lightning is a possibility.
