John Day River

Launch permits are required for all river segments. A non-refundable launch fee applies to trips entering the Wild and Scenic River section between May 20 & July 10 of $20 per overnight trip per group, or $10 per day-use trip per group.

Mainstem

  2. Lower Deschutes & John Day Rivers ($8)

    Waterproof fold-out map covers the mainstream between Highway 26 and the Columbia River, including Service Creek to Cottonwood Bridge.

North Fork

  1. 2003 Umatilla National Forest ($9)

    Shows road access, land ownership, and topographic features. Does not denote River Miles or campsites.

  2. 2002 North Fork John Day River Interim BLM Access Map (free handout)

    Shows road access and land ownership. Does not denote River Mile or campsites.

  3. 1991 Upper John Day River Public Lands Map (free)

    Road access and land ownership are outdated, but River Miles are denoted. Use in combination with Umatilla NF Map and BLM printout.
