WOR_TFA_DISPOSAL: On January 8, 2018, the Western Oregon Tribal Fairness Act was signed in to law (Public Law 115-103). This law provides that approximately 14,742 acres of BLM-managed lands in western Oregon to be held in trust on behalf of the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians. The law also provides that approximately 17,519 acres of BLM-managed lands in western Oregon be held in trust on behalf of the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. In addition, the law requires that the Department of the Interior reclassify an equal number of acres of public domain lands as Oregon and California (O&C) lands to compensate for the loss of O&C lands transferred under the law. Under the guidelines in the law, the BLM will be working to address survey, planning, lands transfer, and reclassification issues.
This data is to support the BLM business needs as regards the Western Oregon Tribal Fairness Act.
