The Spokane District Fire Management program is responsible for fire suppression and hazardous fuels treatments on BLM lands across the state of Washington, primarily in the eastern Washington area. Crews are based out of the Spokane and Wenatchee offices.
The Fire program actively supports national efforts, frequently traveling out-of-state in support of prescribed fire, fire suppression and all-hazard incidents. Due to the extent of the District, crew members can expect overnight travel, long hours and coordination with multiple agencies on projects.
The Spokane District Fire Management staff consists of a Fire Management Officer (FMO), Assistant Fire Management Officer (AFMO), Fire Operations Specialists (FOS), two type 6 engines, a ten person veteran hand crew, and a fuels crew.
