Carson City, Nev. – On June 30, Don Holmstrom began a 120 day detail as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Carson City District Manager.

“I'm happy to be here and look forward to working with the public and BLM employees in managing the diverse resources found throughout the Carson City District,” Holmstrom said.

Don served as Field Manager for the Klamath Falls Resource Area, Lakeview BLM District for the last seven years. Prior to that, he worked as an Assistant Field Manager in two Northern California offices in Susanville and Arcata. He began his federal career with the Forest Service, working as a forester on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Northern Arizona.

Don has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Montana. He is married and has two grown children.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2015, the BLM generated $4.1 billion in receipts from activities occurring on public lands.
