BLM Authorizes Construction of Juniper and Pinyon Loop Trails

Carson City, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District, Sierra Front Field Office has authorized the Carson Valley Trails Association to construct and maintain two non-motorized loop trails in the Pine Nut Mountains east of Carson City. Construction is expected to begin fall of 2014.
The Juniper Loop will be approximately 6.6 miles long and would use an existing staging area off of Stephanie Way. Pinyon Loop will be approximately 4.6 miles long and use a new staging area to be constructed on Pine Nut Road. Both trails will be open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
“BLM and the Carson Valley Trails Association have been working since 2007 to find opportunities for non-motorized recreation within the Pine Nut Mountains” said Sierra Front Field Manager Leon Thomas. “These will be the first designated non-motorized loop trails in the Pine Nut Mountains and will help provide greater diversification of recreation opportunities.”
