BLM Seeks Public Comments on Proposed Silver State Solar South Project near Primm

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Las Vegas Field Office is initiating a 90-day comment period to solicit review and comment on a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and a proposed amendment to the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan (LVRMP) addressing a proposed solar energy facility near Primm, Nevada. The right-of-way application area encompasses approximately 13,183 acres of BLM-administered public lands. The permanent footprint of the project as proposed would be 2,290 acres. The public comment period will close January 11, 2013.

Publication of the Notice of Availability in the October 15 Federal Register initiates the 90-day public review and comment period on the Draft Supplemental EIS and a proposed amendment to the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan (LVRMP) for the Nextlight Renewable Power, LLC, Silver State Solar, LLC, and Silver State Solar Power South, LLC proposed Silver State Solar South Project. Public meetings to review the Draft Supplemental EIS will be announced at least 15 days in advance through local media and on the BLM website at

The applicant has a proposal to construct and operate a solar energy generating facility that would produce 350 megawatts of electricity. In addition, this proposal includes the construction of photovoltaic panels, and related right-of-way appurtenances, including a substation and switchyard facilities.
