Station 21 - Winnemucca

Unimog engine fighting a wildfire

The Winnemucca Fire Station is located at the Winnemucca BLM District Office. The station stays fully operational year round. Full staffing occurs between June and September.

Currently the station staffs 1 Battalion Chief (BC) and a variety of seven wildland fire engines (2-Type IV Tatra Super Heavy Fire Engines, 1- Stnadard Type IV Wildland Engines, 3-Type III Wildland Engines, and 1 Type VI wildland Engine), 1-Type II Water Tender, and 2-Type II Dozers. Seasonal staffing varies but is generally around 20–25 personnel. Station operations are overseen by the station’s Fire Operations Supervisor. There is no housing available at the Winnemucca Station.

In addition to the seasonal staffing and the stations Fire Operations Supervisor, the Winnemucca Station is where the Desert Basin Zone Fire Management Officer, the Winnemucca District Assistant Fire Management Officer, and various other fire management and support positions are located.
