PSI Armagosa PV Solar Project Fact Sheet

PSI Armagosa PV Solar Project (NVN-084465)

Toward a safe, clean energy future: Solar energy is a clean source of electricity that provides benefits on both a local and national level. It is also an inexhaustible, domestic resource that helps reduce our dependence on imports of natural gas, oil and other fuels. California and Nevada’s large desert areas offer some of the highest solar power potential in the country, and most of this resource is still untapped.

Proposed Location: South of Armagosa Valley, Nye County Nevada

Electricity Production Capacity: 150MW; PV Technology; Proposed to be built in 3 phases (Each phase 50MW, total of 150 MW)

Company: Pacific Solar Investments, Inc.

Acreage: Total application is 7,500 acres; 1,700 acres proposed for development

Status: Preparation phases towards the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

Public Comment:

Public Scoping Comment Period ended 02/12/2010
Public Comment period for Draft EIS - pending

Electrictrical Transmission Connection: 20 miles of a new 138kV transmission line from the project site to a new tap substation to be built by PSI, located along existing 138 kV NV Energy Murcury-Jackass Flats transmission line system (proposed transmission line and substation entirely within federal lands)

By the Numbers (Company's proposed action)

  •  Create 200 construction jobs and 8 permanent jobs
  •  No water or fuel required to operate PV solar systems, which reduces environmental impact
