Pinenut Mountains Resource Management Plan Amendment
Updated: May 11, 2010
The BLM-Carson City District Office has tabled further work on amending the land use plan for the Pine Nut Mountains until at least FY 2012. BLM is anticipating the start of a District-wide resource management plan (RMP) amendment process at that time if funds are made available. A District-wide RMP Amendment would cover all of the 3.2 million acres of public land administered by the Carson City District, and will be a more comprehensive document than the Pine Nut RMP Amendment could have been.
Any future District-wide RMP amendment will include prospective management decisions on travel management, recreation, land tenure, areas of critical environmental concerns (ACEC's), special status species management and other resource concerns. Entities that provided input on the RMP Amendment effort for the Pine Nut Mountains, including the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, Yerington Paiute Tribe, Douglas County Commissioners, Lyon County Commissioners, Douglas County Planning Commission, Carson River Advisory Committee, the Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Carson City Open Space Committee, with be reengaged in the District-wide RMP Amendment process.
