BLM HOSTS PUBLIC SCOPING MEETING FOR IONE WILDLAND-URBAN INTERFACE WILDFIRE PROTECTION PROJECT
The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Battle Mountain District wishes to notify interested parties of a public scoping meeting to discuss and develop a wildfire protection project to protect the community of Ione, Nevada. The meeting will be held on May 1, 2008 at 5:30 PM at the community gymnasium on the Yomba-Shoshone Reservation. Yomba is a few miles east of Ione, off of Ione Rd. and State Secondary Route 21. All are invited to attend and participate.
The BLM will present the findings and recommendation of the Fire Risk and Site Assessment for the Ione Wildland-urban Interface. There will be a short presentation of the various tools available to accomplish fire protection goals as well as discussions on how firewood will be made available. We ask that your ideas and concerns are brought forward and shared with the group at the meeting. The BLM will bring information for those interested in potential contracting opportunities to help implement the project.
