Know Before You Go


There are several locations to access the Monument without paying a fee, such as the Aspen Ridge Road, Turret Road and the Ruby Mountain Trailhead.

Recreational use at the Ruby Mountain Recreation Site and/or the Hecla Junction Recreation Site requires either a Colorado Parks and Wildlife annual or daily state parks pass. Annual park passes can be obtained at the AHRA Visitor Center in Salida or daily passes can be obtained at self-serve kiosks at the recreation sites.

  • Daily vehicle state park passes: $7 per vehicle per day – good until noon the following day
  • Daily state park passes: $3 per person per day – age 16+ for those entering the site by bicycle, boat, foot or horseback
  • Annual state park pass: $70.00
  • AHRA camping fees: $16 per campsite per night, in addition to a valid vehicle pass
