Subject:     National Landscape Conservation System Request for Research Proposals

Program Area: National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS)
Purpose:  To meet the BLM reporting requirements as outlined in WO IM-2010-193.
Policy/Action: NLCS Monuments, National Conservation Areas, and Similar Designations are requested to complete Budget Planning System (BPS) submissions for consideration.
The subject WO IM has requested submission of Research and Development (R&D) proposals into BPS. The projects are to be entered into BPS with the NLCS theme. This data call is for R&D associated with NLCS units. It is important to note that NLCS units include National Monuments, National Conservation Areas, and similar designations of Wilderness, Wilderness Study Areas, Wild and Scenic Rivers, and National Scenic and Historic Trails.
Timeframe:  Requested proposal information should be submitted, via BPS, by October 29, 2010.
Budget Impact: No significant budget impact is anticipated.
Background: The NLCS Research and Science Program provides financial support for science projects associated with NLCS units.

Coordination: This IM was coordinated with the Division of Resources.
