Oxbow   5,500-3,500 B.P.

Oxbow are small side-notched or eared points.  Grinding is sometimes found in the notch area.  Thinning of the base occurred by removal of large flakes.  Oxbow display a thin lenticular cross-section.  Selective pressure flaking is a characteristics of this point.  Length range: 4 to 2 mm, width range: 2.5 to 1.3 mm, thickness range: 1 to .5 mm.  Wettlaufer.
