BLM Recreation Areas Closed Due to Flooding Hazards

The BLM has closed the Howrey Island Recreation Area east of Hysham and a portion of the Matthews Recreation Area near Miles City due to hazards posed by high water from the Yellowstone River.

All of the Howrey Island Recreation Area is closed.

The closed portion of Matthews Recreation Area consists of the area adjacent to Jones Creek and near the river; particularly where flooding has undercut portions of the sidewalk and poses a safety hazard. The closed area will be marked with signs and flagging.

For more information call BLM Recreation Planner Dena Lang at (406)233-2800.
