American Colloid Draft Environmental Assessment Now Available

The draft environmental assessment for American Colloid Company proposal to amend its bentonite mine plan near Alzada in Carter County is now available for a 30-day public comment period. 

The document may be requested from the Miles City Field Office or accessed via the web at:

Written comments will be accepted up until the deadline of March 10, 2011.

The amendment --Amendment No. 12-- includes 1,327.4 acres; of which 819.5 acres are federal surface and 507.9 acres are private surface. The proposed area of disturbance associated with this amendment would total approximately 617.5 acres; of which 331.6 acres are federal surface and 285.9 acres are private surface.
