Project Description:
The Dun Glen fire was ignited by lightning on 7/2/2013 and contained on 7/4/2013. The fire burned 29 acres in Sage Grouse Winter-Range as defined by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The fire also burned 20 acres of Mule Deer Crucial Winter Habitat and 100% of the fire area is defined as year-round habitat for pronghorn. 100% of the burned BLM lands occurred in Ecological Site 024XY020NV, which is a droughty loam soil site, receiving 8-10” of precipitation annually. Dominant species (in reference condition) include Wyoming big sagebrush, Thurber’s needlegrass and Indian ricegrass. The fire occurred between 4500-4800’ in elevation. The entire landscape affected in the Dun Glen fire burned over in 1999 during the Cosgrave fire and again in 1985. The Dun Glen fire area on BLM land was drill seeded in 1999. The fire occurred in the White Horse grazing allotment. Approximately 1.75 miles of fence was burned.
