This project proposes recreation development and related activities within Recreation Management Zones. These zones are specified in the Record of Decision for the Recreation Management Plan for the Bradshaw-Harquahala area. These zones are all located along the Black Canyon National Recreation Trail. This project includes locating and developing trail and trailheads, staging areas including the Slate Creek Trail. The development the Slate Creek Trail and ancillary trails will facilitate access to the Agua Fria National Monument, Prescott National Forest, Black Canyon Heritage Park and Mayer. This project will withdraw the trail from mining. Some features of this project will also involve possible buffer areas along the length of the trail. The project will also assess Special Recreation Permits constraints including exclusive use and closures for events. Other actions will analyzed to provide for the ever increasing outdoor recreation needs of the public. This analysis is to promote the preservation and sustainable use for the public to access, enjoy and travel within this particular resource.
