Project Description:
Prescott College has applied to conduct a guided six-day trip involving a float down Beaver Creek Wild and Scenic River to Borealis Cabin, followed by a hike via the Summit Trail to the Elliott Highway. The group will include eight students and two staff. They will use pack-rafts to float to the Borealis Cabin, which they will rent for one night. They will then hike out to the Wickersham Dome Trailhead and be picked up by vehicle. During the trip the staff will teach outdoor skills, natural and cultural history, and leadership. The group proposes to teach and practice “Leave No Trace” camping principles. Cooking will be done in small groups with gas stoves, and all trash will be carried out.

The proposed action will take place within the White Mountains National Recreation Area including the upper section of the Beaver Creek Wild and Scenic River.
