Project Description:
The Owyhee Field Office is proposing to reduce the amount of juniper across the Flint Creek and Long Valley treatment areas to levels that would reflect pre-European settlement. A mixture of treatments would be utilized including cutting, girdling, broadcast burning, jackpot burning, and cut and removal of juniper across approximately 6,000 acres in Flint Creek and 4,000 acres in Long Valley. Implementation of the project would begin in 2012. No old growth trees would be targeted.
Project Location:
The Flint Creek area is approximately 5 miles south of Silver City, Idaho, and the Long Valley area is located approximately 20 miles southeast of Silver City.
