Project Description:
BLM is proposing to install a 14-16 ft. locking gate across the administrative road at Hammer Creek Recreation Site. Hammer Creek Recreation Site is a popular campground, day use area, boat ramp and put in and take out location for the Salmon River. The site is accessed from Old Highway 95, about five miles downstream from White Bird, Idaho. The gate is to be installed at the end of the road leading south down to where the camp ground hosts are located. The gate will help to prevent resource damage, keep vehicles from driving off road on unauthorized routes, protect the septic tank located on site, provide a secure place for the camp ground host and storage building, and help to ensure people are not camping in unauthorized areas of the developed recreation site. The BLM is planning to install the gate in mid to late November 2011.
