This project has been implemented.

Project Location (also see Allotment Map under "Maps")
The Forest Moon Allotment encompasses approximately 108,273 public land acres.  The grazing permit area occurs entirely within Nye County, and is situated approximately 40 miles southwest of Lund, Nevada.  The western portion of this allotment borders the Battle Mountain BLM District and Forest Service lands while the eastern portion borders the Wayne E. Kirch Wildlife Management Area.  The area stretches from the Quinn Mountain Range in the west out into the White River Valley. This allotment occurs largely in the White River Central Watershed with small portion in the Garden Valley Watershed. The White River Sheep Trail also crosses the Forest Moon Allotment.

The issuance of the new term grazing permit could be for a period up to ten years.  An evaluation of the range monitoring data and rangeland health will be conducted for the Forest Moon Allotment.  This data will be summarized in a Standards Determination Document that will be provided for review. This evaluation may result in management recommendations making chances to the current permit.

Need for Proposal
The need for the proposal is to provide for legitimate multiple uses of the public lands by renewing the term grazing permit 2700102 with new terms and conditions for grazing use that conform to guidelines and achieve standards for Nevada’s Northeastern Great Basin Area in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies and in accordance with Title 43 CFR 4130.2(a) which states, "Grazing permits or leases authorize use on the public lands and other BLM-administered lands that are designated in land use plans as available for livestock grazing."

Additionally, there is a need fully process this permit as the current permit expires on 12/31/2011 and was issued under the Grazing Rider (Section 328, Public Law 108-7).
