Rocky Mountain Region National Greater Sage-Grouse Planning Strategy
For the purposes of this planning effort, the Rocky Mountain Region is divided into four sub-regions: Montana/Dakotas; Wyoming; Northwest Colorado; and Utah. Each sub-region developed an EIS covering its territory. Each sub-region-specific EIS has its own strategy to address Greater Sage-Grouse issues and addresses the impacts of amending and/or revising all pertinent RMPs with that guidance. Only RMPs that cover planning areas containing sagebrush habitat are included for amendment (or plan revisions). The Record of Decision (ROD), which comes at the end of the EIS process, may amend the RMPs to include the new management direction.
Montana/Dakotas Sub Region
The Montana/Dakotas Sub Region encompasses the planning efforts currently underway for the HiLine District, Billings Field Office, Lewistown Field Office, Miles City Field Office, South Dakota Field Office, and this North Dakota Sage-Grouse planning area.
