Winnemucca District Drought Management Plan
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Winnemucca District (WD), has prepared a Winnemucca District Drought Response Plan Environmental Assessment (EA). Even though Northern Nevada has recently received precipitation, rangelands within the Winnemucca District are still experiencing moderate to extreme drought conditions, according to the United States Drought Monitor. Based on this information, it is likely that these conditions will continue to persist. Drought conditions affect plant growth, water availability and could require the need to modify livestock and/or wild horse and burro management, as well as other resource programs that the WD manages.
