East Fork High Rock Canyon Aquisition

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Winnemucca District, Black Rock Field Office has completed the Final Environmental Assessment for the East Fork High Rock Acquisition.  The Decision is the acquisition of 320 acres of private property located off a cherry stem road bordering the East Fork High Rock Canyon Wilderness. This project is located at the northern end of the Wilderness area within Washoe County, Nevada; Township 41 North, and Range 23 East, sections 1, 12 and 13.

The acquisition area contains preliminary priority habitat for the Greater sage-grouse and other wildlife.  Acquisition of the undeveloped parcels would would ensure future public access and would be in compliance with objectives in the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area (NCA) Resource Management Plan (RMP).
