Public Scoping

The public scoping period ended on March 23, 2012. The Scoping Report is available on the Documents & Reports page of this Web site.

Draft EIS

The Nevada and Northeastern California Greater Sage-Grouse  Draft EIS is available for a 90-day review and comment period. The Draft EIS incorporates comments received during the scoping period  (December 2011 - March 2012), input from Cooperating Agencies, and the BLM/USFS Interdiciplinary Team.

The Draft EIS describes and analyzes a range of six alternatives for managing approximately 17.7 million acres of BLM and Forest Service-administered lands in Nevada and Northeastern California.  The alternatives present a range of management actions to achieve the goal of Greater Sage-Grouse conservation for the Nevada and Northeastern California Sub-Region.  The Draft EIS also identifies the agencies' preferred alternative and describes management actions developed by adapting the National Technical Team measures to the Nevada and Northeastern California Sub-Region.  While the agencies' preferred alternative has been identified, it is not a final agency decision.  Input received during the 90-day review and comment period will be incorporated into the the final decision making process.

The comment period will be open from Friday November 1, 2013 through Wednesday January 29, 2014.  The Draft EIS is accessible through the "Documents & Reports" link on the left side of this website.

Submitting Comments

This section is designed to help you when the time comes to review the Draft EIS and to submit comments.

Comments are important to us as they may provide us with valuable information and data useful in our decision-making process that may have been overlooked. Please refer to the Commenting Guide (also available on the Documents & Reports link on the left side of this page - under the Reference Documents section) for detailed information on how to provide helpful comments.

You can submit comments interactively directly from this ePlanning website during an open comment period.
INSTRUCTIONS: Click the blue icon for the Interactive Document available on the Documents & Reports link on the left side of this page.  The interactive document will open in your browser window.  Highlight the text you would like to comment on and then click the "Click Here to Submit Comment" at the top of the web page.  A commenting form will open.  Click the button labeld "Insert Highlighted Text" and your highlighted text and its' location in the document will automatically be copied into the form.  The form will walk you through the rest of the process.  There is a help link in the top right corner of the web page if needed.  A brief ePlanning Interactive Comment Guide is also available for download on the Documents & Reports link on the left side of this page (under the Reference Documents section).

Please note:  Due to security settings, the comment form resets after 60 minutes.  This means each "comment session" must be completed within 60 minutes or the form will reset and any information in the form will be deleted. You can have as many "comment sessions" as needed.
