The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Sierra Front Field Office (SFFO) had made available for public review and comment the Carson City Land Conveyance Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) (DOI-BLM-NV-C020-2011-0518-EA).

The Draft EA analyzed the potential direct, indirect and cumulative effects to the human environment from the mandated conveyance of certain federal lands to the Carson City Consolidated Municipality, in accordance with Section 2601(b) of the Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009 (OPLMA). Under OPLMA, approximately 3,604 acres of BLM-managed lands identified as Silver Saddle Ranch and Carson River Area, and 1,848 acres of other BLM-managed lands would be conveyed to Carson City for parks and public purposes. This non-discretionary action to convey federal lands would be subject to conditions outlined under OPLMA and a conservation easement.

The public review and comment period ended on December 27, 2011.

On October 23, 2012 the BLM issued a Final EA, Finding of No Significant Impact, and Decision Record for this project (see Documents).
