BLM will evaluate the availability of, and limitations on, use and access to public lands in order to increase renewable energy production, such as biomass, water, wind and solar energy.

The BLM/DOI follow-up renewable meeting was held in February 2002. The NREL renewable energy potential report, “Assessing The Potential For Renewable Energy On Public Lands,” was completed. http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy03osti/33530.pdf. The BLM contributed to the joint DOE/DOI renewable report to the President (published in August 2002). The action plan will be reflected in new energy tasks addressing biomass strategy, wind policy, and renewable production measure.
