DIRECTIONS: You can access Cucharas Canyon from a number of locations on both the west and east side of the canyon. Both are accessed on dirt roads off of Hwy 10.
East side directions: From Walsenburg, travel east on CO Hwy 10 for 17 miles then turn north onto County Road 123, across from the Apishapa State Wildlife Area sign. Go 4.5 miles, staying left at the junction with the old schoolhouse. At the next “Y” intersection stay right. Follow the road to its end to arrive at the Kenner Ranch/Wilson Crossing East trailhead. Trailer parking with hitching rails, high line posts and a corral are available.
West Side Directions: From Walsenburg travel east on CO Hwy 10 for 5.1 miles then turn north (right) onto County Road 120. Follow County Road 120 for 10.4 miles then turn right at the” T” inersection. Follow this for another three miles. At this intersection you can go straight ahead for one mile to the Sheep Crossing Trailhead, or for the Wilson Crossing trailhead you can turn left at this intersection and travel north. At approximately 3.5 miles you will come to an intersection where you will see a sign for BLM Access directing you to the right. Follow this road for approximately ¼ mile to the Wilson Crossing Trailhead.
