Rapid Creek Trailhead

Season Dates: March - November, motorized access to the Rapid Creek Road is allowed only during big game rifle hunting seasons each fall.

Site Overview: This trailhead is on private property. A public access agreement at the trailhead provides access to public lands along the northwest slopes of the Grand Mesa, including the Rapid Creek Road which climbs over 2400 feet along Rapid Creek to Cabin Reservoir. An 11 mile loop can be made by using Cottonwood Creek Road as a return route.

Directions: The Rapid Creek Road begins northeast of Palisade just south of the intersection of Interstate 70 and Highway 6.  Travel northeast on the Rapid Creek Road approximately two miles to the trailhead.
