BLM workshops will help clarify outfitter permitting rules

CRAIG, Colo.— The Bureau of Land Management Little Snake Field Office is hosting three workshops this month to help increase public awareness about permits required to guide or outfit on BLM public lands.

Special Recreation Permits are required for commercial recreation use on public lands, such as outfitting and guiding. They may also be required for competitive events and organized group gatherings. The workshops offer an opportunity to learn the specifics about BLM permitting.

The workshops will cover basic BLM requirements, clarification on fees, post-season requirements and other information permittees need to know to be in compliance with permitting requirements.

“The workshops will be helpful to first time applicants, seasoned permittees, or anyone unsure whether they need a permit,” said Little Snake Outdoor Recreation Planner Kimberly Miller. “We are offering the same workshop on three different days.”

The workshops will be held in Craig at the Little Snake Field Office, 455 Emerson St. on April 11 from 11 a.m. to noon; April 15 from  2 to 3 p.m.; and April 24 from 6 p.m.to 7 p.m.  Staff will be available after the workshops for individual inquiries.
