view of the oxbowDIRECTIONS TO SITE:  From I-10: Exit at Neighbours Blvd. /CA-78 in Blythe, California, heading south on Highway 78. From I-8: Exit north on Ogilby Rd. Turn right on Highway 78 heading north. The site is approximately 3 miles south of Palo Verde, California, at Colorado River mile 100. Turn east onto gravel road at sign marked "Colorado River." Oxbow is ¾ mile east of Highway 78. The site is located approximately 23 miles south of Blythe, CA and 68 miles northwest of Yuma, AZ.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SITE:  RV and tent camping sites, boat launch, and day use area on old river channel (oxbow) of the Colorado River. Site is heavily used on summer and holiday weekends, and is popular with winter visitors.  Video:  Imperial Dam Recreation Area 

FACILITIES PROVIDED:  Off-channel boat ramp with access to Colorado River, day use and boat trailer parking, two vault toilets, trash dumpster, RV and tent camping.

FEATURES:  This site provides opportunities for camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, and picnicing, and has direct boat access to the Colorado River. Some campsites are on the "Oxbow" which in not directly connected to the Colorado River. Campsites are not marked or designated. Use is on a first-come first-served basis. Site is adjacent to popular OHV trails and near the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge. A highway bridge crosses the River at this location.

FEES/PERMITS REQUIRED:  The fee is $10 per vehicle for day-use, $15 per vehicle for overnight use, or $75 annually per vehicle for up to 5 people per vehicle. There will be a $1 per person fee charged for each person over the 5 person limit. Visitors must pay daily fees at self-registration fee pipes located at the site or at the BLM Yuma Field Office; annual permits are currently available for purchase at the Yuma Field Office.

LIMITATIONS:  Camping use is limited to 14 days in any 28-day period. There are no lifeguards on duty.  Campground is located both in California and Arizona, so visitors are advised that State or County laws concerning fishing, OHV use, or other uses may differ between States. Off-highway vehicle use is limited to existing roads and trails. Please Tread Lightly.  In addition to existing rules and regulations, there are supplemental rules which are used to help manage this campground.
