Abstract:: Range improvements since 1938 are included in this dataset. Management facilities, reservoirs, vegetation manipulations and water developments are identified. These locations are not exact, they were located by 1/4, 1/4 sections. During the digitizing process, some improvements are in the wrong place. As resource specialists use CARAT (Computer Aided Resource Analysis Tool) they are noting where locations are incorrect and adjusting as necessary. Work is being done to correct this problem.
Purpose:: Range improvements were collected to aid natural resource managers in making decisions affecting public lands.
Supplemental_Information:: This data was retrieved from the GABS database which at the time of development was not compatible with ArcView GIS.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:: BLM Pinedale office provided a database hardcopy printout of township, range, section and quarter quarter location of their range improvements including water developments, fences, vegetation plots, etc. Since their database format was incompatible with SDVC systems, point locations based on quarter quarters were visually estimated using the 7.5 minute digital topographic maps as a base. In some cases, the location of the well/reservoir was apparent on the map and the location could be pinpointed more precisely than just by legal description. There are errors in the placement of the range improvements. Specialists are updating their placement as they come across erroroneous data. The Pinedale Field Office is considering updating this dataset by a different method since it is possible to retieve GABS in GIS friendly format.
