Abstract:
No Surface Occupancy (NSO) is designated by the BLM to
prevent surface disturbing activities from occurring in
specific areas. The reasons may include but are not limited
to wilderness areas, cultural artifacts or sensitive areas
for wildlife. No surface disturbance of any kind is allowed.
Purpose:
Dataset was developed for the Pinedale Resource Management
Plan. The data was created in digital format for use in
CARAT (Computer-Aided Resource Analysis Tool).

verified by comparing location of polygon to known areas -
no formal tests were performed.

These data are believed to be logically consistent, though
no tests were performed. Line geometry is topologically clean.

All NSO areas in the Pinedale Field Office are included.

Using a light table, the outlines of the NSOs were copied
by hand onto three BLM land status maps (Jackson, Pinedale,
and Afton). The NSO boundaries were then digitized
on-screen (by SDVC personnel, February 1999) using ArcView
and the digital version of the same 1:100,000-scale maps
(available from the USGS as Digital Raster Graphics) and
ownership and public land survey boundaries digitized by
the Wyoming BLM state office (derived from GCDB survey
coordinates) as base maps. The accuracy associated with the
USGS 1:100,000-scale DRG products conforms to the National
Mapping Accuracy Standards of +/- 120 feet.
