Abstract:

These data indicate legal access points for fishing and boating recreational use on various rivers and lakes within the Pinedale Field Office (PFO). The access locations are on land managed by either the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) or the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WG&F). Most locations have legal vehicle access to at the most 1/4 mile from the water. Some include boating access locations also. Water bodies included are the Green River, the New Fork River, the East Fork River, Pine Creek, Boulder Creek, Fremont Lake and Boulder Lake.

Attribute information was collected in the field and entered in Trimble GeoExplorer Global Positioning System (GPS) units using a data dictionary prepared in advance. The attributes are considered to be accurate relative to the time the data was collected.

This is not yet an exhaustive representation of public fishing access points for the Pinedale Field Office. It also only applies to BLM land, not US Forest Service lands.

Using the WG&F Fishing Opportunities handout and BLM surface ownership maps produced internally, legal fishing access points were visited and GPS'ed. Pertinent field conditions were recorded in the 'comments' field. The data was downloaded from the GPS, differentially corrected, and exported as shapefiles using Pathfinder Office software.
