Description:
    Abstract:
      This dataset represents BLM administered land in Wyoming that are subject to a No Surface Occupancy (NSO) restriction (Polygons). This dataset is a merged collection of Field Office NSO data.

      NOTE: NSO is a term used to prohibit the physical presence of oil and gas operations
      and associated facilities on the surface of Public Lands in a specified area to protect
      sensitive surface resource values. The NSO provision is reserved for use in fluid
      mineral land use planning allocation decisions and lease stipulations. Other terms,
      such as restricted area, avoidance area, exclusion area, etc., are used with non-fluid
      mineral functions.
    Purpose: To map NSO areas for GIS planning and analysis.

      Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report: Accuracy varies between Field Offices. some data were collected with GPS and some where screen digitized. Positional accuracy should at least match 1:100,000 mapping standards.

      Process_Description:
        1. Datasets were copied from Field Office servers
        2."Name" field was added to each Field Office NSO dataset and populated with the reason for the NSO stipulation. i.e. raptor nest, recreation area. (see below Sage Grouse leks in Lander and Rawlins)
        3. All other fields were dropped for the purpose of creating a statewide dataset.
        4. Sage Grouse lek NSOs for Lander and Rawlins were created by the following steps
           a. lots and aliqout parts within .6 mile of an occupied lek were extracted from GCDB features. The pieces that did not fall on federal OG were removed. The remaining pieces were dissolved to removed interior arcs.
           b. lots and aliqout parts within .25 mile of an occupied lek were extracted from GCDB features. The pieces that did not fall on federal OG were removed. The remaining pieces were dissolved to removed interior arcs.
        5. All datasets were merged into WY_NSO
        6. FldOffice field was populated with name of the Field Office applying the NSO stip.
