Early Surveyors of Wyoming

There have been many accounts written about the early adventures of the pioneers, cowboys, Indians, explorers and military who roamed the early west. Stories about the early government surveyors, however, are few. These individuals performed the surveys and established the monuments that allowed the settlers to file a claim on a parcel of land. Without the work conducted by the government surveyor, the settlement of the west could not have happened.

The following links lead to brief accounts of a few of these surveyors.
