PROTESTS FILED

 

On August 18, 2009, the Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office posted a Notice of Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale for 66 parcels of land located in the State of Wyoming to be offered for lease by oral auction on October 2, 2009.

Between September 15 and 17, 2009, we received 5 timely filed protests from various organizations to our office offering certain parcels for lease at the October 2, 2009, competitive oil and gas lease sale.

The Biodiversity Conservation Alliance and Natural Resources Defense Council filed a protest of all 66 parcels (entire sale) included in the October 2, 2009, sale list.

The Wyoming Outdoor Council, The Wilderness Society, and Greater Yellowstone Coalition filed a protest to our offering the following parcels for lease:

5) WY-0910-056;

The National Audubon Society, Audubon Wyoming, and Western Resources Advocates filed a protest to our offering the following parcels for lease:

The protested parcels will be offered for lease at the subject sale. If, after evaluating the concerns raised in the protests, this office determines they have merit, we may reject a lease offer made at the sale and may refund all monies paid. Alternatively, if our evaluation finds the concerns raised in the protests are without merit, this office will dismiss the protests and issue leases for any of these parcels sold either competitively or noncompetitively.
