PROTESTS FILED

 

On June 19, 2009, the Bureau of Land Management Wyoming State Office posted a Notice of Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale for 48 parcels of land located in the State of Wyoming to be offered for lease by oral auction on August 4, 2009. 

Between July 14 and 20, 2009, we received 6 timely filed protests from various organizations to our office offering certain parcels for lease at the August 4, 2009, competitive oil and gas lease sale.

The Biodiversity Conservation Alliance filed a protest of all 48 parcels included in the August 4, 2009, sale list.

Wyoming Outdoor Council filed a protest as to our offering the following parcels for lease:

1) WY-0908-043;2) WY-0908-044; and3) WY-0908-045.

The Wyoming Federation and The National Wildlife Federation filed a protest to our offering the following parcels for lease:

1) WY-0908-033;
2) WY-0908-034;
3) WY-0908-036;
4) WY-0908-037;
5) WY-0908-046; and
6) WY-0908-048.

The National Audubon Society and Audubon Wyoming filed a protest to our offering the following parcels for lease:

1) WY-0908-006;
2) WY-0908-007;
3) WY-0908-034;
4) WY-0908-036;
5) WY-0908-038;
6) WY-0908-046;
7) WY-0908-047; and
8) WY-0908-048.

The Greater Little Mountain Coalition filed a protest to our offering the following parcel for lease:

1) WY-0908-046

  

The Center for Native Ecosystems and Biodiversity Conservation Alliance filed a protest to our offering the following parcels for lease:

4) WY-0908-004;

The protested parcels will be offered for lease at the subject sale. If, after evaluating the concerns raised in the protests this office determines they have merit, we may reject a lease offer made at the sale and may refund all monies paid. Alternatively, if our evaluation finds the concerns raised in the protests are without merit, this office will dismiss the protests and issue leases for any of these parcels sold either competitively or noncompetitively.
