I N F O R M A T I O N   N O T I C E PROTESTS FILED

Between March 13, 2008 and March 17, 2008, we received nineteen protests from various organizations, environmental groups and individuals to our office offering certain parcels for lease at the April 1, 2008, competitive oil and gas lease sale.  We received one protest from The Wyoming Wilderness Association, another from the Wyoming Outdoor Council, Biodiversity Conservation Alliance, Wyoming Chapter of the Sierra Club, Wyoming Association of Churches, The Wilderness Society, and Natural Resources Defense Council and thirteen from individual citizens as to parcels WY-0804-255 and WY-0804-256 only.  The Center for Native Ecosystems and Biodiversity Conservation Alliance filed a protest as to the following parcels:

After taking into consideration the concerns stated in the protests the Wyoming State Director has elected to offer the protested parcels for lease pending our review of the issues raised therein.  If, after evaluating the concerns raised in the protests this office determines they have merit, we may reject a lease offer made at the sale and may refund all monies paid.  Alternatively, if our evaluation finds the concerns raised in the protests are without merit, this office will dismiss the protests and issue leases for these parcels. On March 18, 2008, we received five protests from various individuals as to parcels WY-0804-255 and WY-0804-256.  However, these protests will be dismissed because they were not filed within the timeframe stated in the Notice of Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale.
