On January 22, 2008, we received five protests from various organizations and environmental groups to our offering certain parcels for lease at the February 5, 2008, competitive oil and gas lease sale. The first protest was filed by the Wyoming Outdoor Council, Biodiversity Conservation Alliance, Clark Resource Council and the Greater Yellowstone Coalition as to the following parcels:

Although three of the protests included parcel WY-0802-142, that parcel was deleted from the sale by an Information Notice dated January 9, 2008. By this Information Notice we are informing you that parcel WY-0802-061 is also deleted from the February 5, 2008, sale until the Casper Field Office resolves some issues regarding the land included in that parcel. The remaining protested parcels will be offered for lease pending our review of the merits of the protests. If, after evaluating the concerns raised in the protests this office determines they have merit, we may reject a lease offer made at the sale and may refund all monies paid. Alternatively, if our evaluation finds the concerns raised in the protests are without merit, this office will dismiss the protests and issue leases for these parcels.   Please direct any questions you may have about the protest to Vickie Mistarka at (307) 775-6199.
